Heart of Feathers Education & Behavior Training's
goal is to educate on a compassion and cooperative companion bird behavior training. We look at small steps that can lead toward successful sessions for your individual bird to learn. Behavior changes do not happen overnight. With consistent and successful training, incremental changes will occur.

About Our Trainer
Our Senior Trainer, Sheila, is a professional IAABC Certified Parrot Behavior Consultant/Trainer (CPBC). Sheila is not a Avian Behaviorist (she has not attended veterinary school. Avian Behaviorist can prescribe medication and can diagnose some medical conditions). She is a recognized professional certified companion bird behavior trainer.
Sheila volunteers at local rescues. While working with the rescue, she may foster a companion bird with undesired behavior. Fostering assists with keeping her skills up to date through learning and hands on experience and will assist in improving the behavior of the bird to get adopted.
She passes her professional knowledge and experience to her clients (as well as relating to the client's situation).
Sheila continues to refresh her educational skillset by attending credited colleges, and professional webinars/conferences.
Completed in 2023
Sheila completed and received her Fear Free Veterinary Avian Certification Program from the Fear Free Pets (https://fearfreepets.com/). This is not a veterinary tech certification, instead a certification that Sheila has the proven skills to assist clients in
teaching preparation for Veterinary Exams (Weigh Training, Crate Training, Syringe Training, etc).
Completed in 2021
Sheila completed and received her certification from the University of Washington in Applied Animal Behavior. She can carry the letters UW-AAB after her name to designate this. (Click Here to read Press Release)

Heart of Feathers Education & Training recognizes and treats each bird as an individual. We work towards creating a unique designed one on one session and a personal training plan for you and your bird.
We use Applied Behavior Analysis and incorporate different methodology to tailor the personal training technique plan into small manageable steps based on the individual bird and person.

LIMA - Less Intrusive, Minimal Aversive (the training plan reviews everything in the environment to set up successful training sessions)
